Hello! My name is Adam Michael Taylor.
Welcome to My little corner of the internet!
Storytelling has always been a magical force in my life. I believe us humans are, at our core, story creatures. and here in my corner of the internet, I’m sharing pieces of mine at they evolve, in hopes that you will resonate and choose to engage with my creative offerings, and maybe share your story in turn.
For over 20 years, I’ve designed lighting for live Arts & cultural experiences such as theater, music, dance, and festivals. My creative journey began in high school theater, under the guidance of Nancy Curtis, a prolific theater educator (and creative mother to many), who introduced me to the power of building community through storytelling. This foundation has shaped my passion for collaborative creative expression, and revealed the possibility for growth that lies within creative expression of our human experience.
I continued studying theatrical lighting design at Radford University and launched into a career in entertainment lighting, working with theme parks, cruise ships, and regional theater and dance companies. My years in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, working with Peppercorn Children’s Theater allowed me to build alongside a community of emerging theater artists, write plays, and design immersive lighting and sound experiences in non-theatrical spaces for young audiences and their families.
In 2019, I moved to Arcosanti —a visionary "Urban Laboratory" experiment located in the High Sonoran Desert of Arizona. There, I explored community living, seasonality, and the integration of ecology and architecture through a lived experience of place. It was here that I truly began to dive into developing my unique musical practice and drone-y Ambient style. while honing my skills as a lighting designer, musician, and storyteller, I also learned the art of sand-casting bronze by crafting artisan wind bells, which I now feature in my music and therapeutic sound practice. During this time, I founded Lexicon Light LLC to provide event services and support my creative endeavors at Arcosanti and beyond.
In 2022, I embarked on a year-long global adventure as a roaming bard, storyteller, sound practitioner, and light artist. I traveled to several Long-standing international community projects, such as Auroville (India), Damanhur (Italy), and Findhorn (Scotland), and immersed myself in their alternative models of living, while offering meditative sound journeys in exchange. These experiences deepened my understanding of communal living, visionary human systems, and the transformative power of music in the context of celebration, meditation, and purposful gathering. While traveling to Auroville, in south India, I became connected with a profound sound healing experience within a new matrix of sound, called The Sonorium. It inspired me to invest in a more formal sound practice and gather a Sonorium of my own.
Now based in the Hudson Valley, New York, I’m focused on exploring the connection between frequency and consciousness, Color and Sound, coherence and Healing. Through heart-centered experimentation, guided trance states, and intricate sound-and-light systems, I create immersive experiences that promote nervous system regulation, expansion, and balance of mind, body, and spirit. My goal is to use sound and light to inspire presence and harmony in those who experience my creative expressions.
I am currently and actively working as a lighting designer & technician for live music and compellingly weird experimental theater projects….while simultaneously offering therapeutic sound and light experiences in a private practice through my new venture, Sonorium Hudson Valley.
If you would like to create something together, hire me, or experience a sonic offering, reach out through this site, or book a Sonorium Session.
Peace!
