THE PRACTITIONER

Adam Michael Taylor

Storytelling has always been a magical force in my life. I believe we humans are, at our core, story creatures. And here in my little corner of the internet, I'm sharing pieces of mine as they evolve — in hopes that you'll resonate and choose to experience what I've built.

For over 20 years, I've designed lighting for live arts and cultural experiences — theater, music, dance, and festivals. My journey began in high school theater under the guidance of Nancy Curtis, a prolific theater educator who introduced me to the power of building community through storytelling.

I studied theatrical lighting design at Radford University and launched into entertainment lighting — working with theme parks, cruise ships, and regional theater and dance companies. In Winston-Salem, NC, my years with Peppercorn Children's Theater let me build alongside emerging theater artists, write plays, and design immersive experiences for young audiences.

The path to sound

In 2019, I moved toArcosanti — a visionary "Urban Laboratory" in the High Sonoran Desert of Arizona. There, I explored community living, seasonality, and the integration of ecology and architecture. It was in “The Vaults” of Arcosanti, that I began developing my ambient music practice. It was also where I learned the art of sand-casting bronze — crafting artisan wind bells that now feature in my music and sound therapy.

In 2022, I embarked on a year-long global adventure as a roaming sound practitioner and light artist. I traveled to Auroville (India), Damanhur(Italy), and Findhorn (Scotland) — immersing myself in alternative models of community living and offering meditative sound journeys in exchange.

While in Auroville, I encountered a profound sound healing experience within a new matrix of sound calledThe Sonorium. Invented by Aurelio Hammer of SVARAM Musical Instruments & Research, the Sonorium is both a healing sanctuary and a living laboratory for consciousness, resonance, and transformation. It changed everything for me.

Rooted in the impact the Sonorium made on my own life, I knew this was a treasure that I needed to bring back and share with people who would be well served by its capacity for mental and emotional regulation. With the support of Joseph Schmidlin & Luke Cornwell, of OneTone Sonic Alchemy, I trained in the practice and assembled the full system of instruments and establishedSonorium Hudson Valley.

Now, here

Now based in the Hudson Valley, I'm focused on exploring the intersections of frequency and consciousness, color and sound, coherence and healing. Through heart-centered experimentation, guided trance states, and carefully tuned sensory environments, I create experiences that promote nervous system regulation, expansion, and the balance of mind, body, and spirit. My goal is simple: to use sound and light in the creation of a beauty which inspires presence and harmony in those who willfully experience it.
